Our Process
Here's a little bit about our process and how we work!
Contact
Contact Palazzo Kitchens and Baths at (925) 827-3000 or info@palazzokb.com and we will pair you up with a dedicated Salesperson who’ll help you through your project from beginning to end.
Estimation Measurement
Your Palazzo Kitchens and Baths Salesperson will plan a free in-home estimate to determine the square footage of current counters for estimation purposes. If you have sketches of your new counters, we can use them to estimate the total square footage for fabrication and labor.
Stone Selection
At a time convenient to your schedule, you and your salesperson will tour our showroom to select the stone for your counters. At this time, you can also select coordinating backsplashes, sinks, faucets, and other accessories your project may require. After your visit, we will be able to generate a cost estimate. Keep in mind that estimates are flexible and may change with any new choice of product.
Estimate
Once completed, your salesperson will thoroughly go over the estimate with you and answer any questions you may have. If you choose to proceed, we will sign a contract and pay for the stone so that we can order it. This is payment for the stone material only – demolition, installation, and additional materials will be included in your final payment.
Demolition and Template
At time scheduled for your convenience, our demolition crew and “templator” will come to your home to remove your old countertops, install new plywood tops, and create the templates for your new counters. It is vital that your existing counters are clear of all items (toaster, coffee maker, microwave, etc.) before our crew’s arrival.
If your new countertops are going to have a different shape or size than your existing tops, you must be available to answer any questions from the templator. If you are purchasing a new sink from someone other than Palazzo Kitchens and Baths, we request you supply our templator with its template to properly incorporate it into the plans. Our crew will install the new sink with the countertops.
Installation
Preparation – We recommend that you empty all cabinets and drawers before our installation crew arrives. This is a dusty process! While our crew does their very best to manage dust with vacuums, we suggest you remove or cover any items which can be affected by dust.
Access – Granite is very heavy! The crew must have clear access to entry ways.
Sinks, Cooktops and Faucets – Our installers cut holes for drop-in kitchen sinks and cooktops on-site (out of doors or in the garage area whenever possible). We pre-cut and polish the location of under-mount sinks at our facility. Please have any faucets, soap dispensers, or hot water taps that require drilling of your countertops ready for our crew.
Custom Backsplashes – Measurement of full height or riser bar backsplashes, is likely to occur on the same day as the countertop installation. A Palazzo Kitchens and Baths installer will return a few days later to install your custom backsplash. For granite slab backsplashes, electrical boxes must be removed by your electrician to fit ¾” depth.
Cleaning and Sealer Treatment
The final step of installation is the cleaning of countertops and backsplashes and applying a professional sealer. Our recommendation is that you repeat the sealing process annually for all natural stone countertops, showers, and floor.
